LA CROSSE — The Central High School boys basketball team ran its winning streak to four games with a 59-55 nonconference victory over Eau Claire Memorial at the Mark Sutton Memorial Gymnasium on Monday.
The RiverHawks (4-1) held Memorial to 14 first-half points and held on in the second half for the victory.
Junior Gabe Servais led three double-figure scorers for Central with 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting and 6-for-6 shooting from the foul line.
Junior Anthony Jones added 14 points and senior Joey Pretasky 11 for Central, which hosts Onalaska on Jan. 6.
Junior Ezra Wiese added six points and a team-high eight rebounds for the RiverHawks.
Aquinas Tournament
Aquinas 59, Portage 34
LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (5-1), who are ranked fifth in Division 3 in the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports media poll, allowed just 12 points in the first half and pulled away for a one-sided victory in their semifinal.
That means Aquinas will play Maple Northwestern (3-1), which beat Division 5 top-ranked North Crawford 69-59 in the first semifinal. The Blugolds and Tigers will tip off at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Junior Calvin Bahr scored a team-high 22 points, and senior Finley Strom added 15 for Aquinas, which won its second game in a row. Bahr had 12 points as the Blugolds built a 56-12 halftime lead.
Junior Henry Berns added eight points and senior Logan Becker and sophomore Roman Kirchner seven apiece for Aquinas.
Wisconsin Dells Holiday Classic
Onalaska Luther 70, Wisconsin Dells 58
WISCONSIN DELLS — The Knights (3-3) trailed by five points at halftime but outscored the Chiefs by 17 points in the second half.
Senior Brody Greeno made five 3-pointers and scored a team-high 17 points for Luther, which plays Ripon at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in its second game of the invitational. Junior Trent Berg added 15 points on 7-for-8 shooting, six rebounds and five assists for the Knights, who shot 50 percent from the floor and made 9 of 17 attempted 3-pointers.
Senior Max Huelskamp finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and freshman Javon Zenke had 13 points on 6-for-11 shooting and added seven rebounds and five assist.
Carter Syverson, the Chiefs’ leading scorer, was held to 11 points and shut out in the second half by the defense of freshman J.J. Abdul-Haqq.
