LA CROSSE — The Holmen High School girls wrestling team has advanced three qualifiers to tonight’s quarterfinal round of the Bi-State Classic at the La Crosse Center.
Programs in the couleesports.com coverage area will have six wrestlers in tonight’s girls quarterfinals.
Senior Sophia Walter and juniors Aini Anderson and Avalee Euler all went unbeaten during the first session and will compete for spots in Tuesday’s semifinals tonight.
Walter (13-1) won both of her matches in the 235-pound bracket by pin. Seeded seventh, she meets second-seeded Autumn King (19-0) of Bay Port in the quarterfinals.
Anderson (13-1), who is the top seed at 100, only had to wrestle once to get to the quarterfinals, and she followed up a first-round bye with a pin. She squares off with Richland Center’s Kailee Spilde (9-2), who is the eighth seed.
Euler (9-1), seeded fifth at 165, won by pin and decision to advance to her quarterfinal against Mineral Point’s fourth-seeded Emily Heisner (16-3).
West Salem/Bangor’s Sophia Anderson, G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro’s Payten Craig and Logan/Central’s Rachael Hang are also quarterfinalists.
Anderson (17-1), a freshman and seventh seed at 107, finished her first two matches by pin and meets second-seeded Kylie Klum (10-2) of Westby in her quarterfinal bout.
Craig (16-5), a junior seeded 12th at 120, won her first match by pin then pinned fifth-seeded Zoe Licht (10-2) of Lodi in 29 seconds to advance. She wrestles fourth-seeded Elli Levine (14-2) of Hastings next.
Hang (17-3) is a junior and is seeded seventh at 138, where she followed a bye with a pin and decision. She is matched up with second-seeded Lydia Hutter (17-2) of Adams-Friendship in the quarterfinals.
