Tuesday boys soccer report: Onalaska forces tie with first-place and undefeated Arcadia

ARCADIA — The Onalaska High School boys soccer team nearly became the first this season to beat Arcadia, but a scoreless second half led to a tie in an MVC game.

The first-place Raiders (15-0-3 overall, 6-0-1 MVC) scored when Christopher Urbina took the ball inside the 18-yard mark and launched a shot that deflected off of two defenders and into the goal during the 18th minute.

The Hilltoppers (4-5-5, 3-1-3) knotted things up when Julio Aparaico scored unassisted in the 40th minute off a free kick. The Arcadia keeper stopped the shot, but directed the ball to Aparaico, who tapped it into an empty net.

Aquinas 4, Eau Claire Regis 1

LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (6-6) took care of the Ramblers at Fields for Kids for their second win in a row.
Harry Griffth, Connor Benz and Cal Smith scored for Aquinas, and Regis added to its deficit with an own goal.

West Salem 2, Central 1

LA CROSSE — The Panthers (6-5-1, 4-3) used one goal from Cade Donahue and a penalty kick by Sam Adams to hand the RiverHawks (3-7-2, 2-4-1) a loss at Fields for Kids.

The victory is West Salem’s second in a row.
