Saturday soccer report: Caledonia girls snap losing streak with win in Mankato

MANKATO — The Caledonia High School girls soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-0 victory over Mankato Loyola on Saturday.

The Warriors (2-3) won by shutout for the second time and used two goals apiece from seniors Siri Konkol and Losiah Gay for the victory. They also helped each other out with an assist.

Senior Macy Kraus also had an assist for Caledonia.

Waunakee 4, Onalaska 0

ONALASKA — The Warriors scored twice in each half against the Hilltoppers (3-2-1).

One of Waunakee’s scores came on a defensive mistake by Onalaska that led to an own goal.

Wisconsin Dells 5, Aquinas 2

LA CROSSE — The Blugolds were beaten at Fields for Kids despite two goals from Harry Griffith.

Cal Griffith assisted on one and Connor Benz on the other.

Winona Cotter 2, Holmen 0

HOLMEN — The Ramblers scored once in each half to become the first team to beat the Vikings this season.

Holmen maintained possession through most of the first half and increased its attack in the second half but couldn’t convert on any of the opportunities that arose.

Verona 5, Holmen 0

HOLMEN — The Wildcats scored all of their goals in the second half as their size and experience took over.

The two defeats provided many lessons for the Vikings as they move forward.
