Thursday cross country report: Central girls second, Logan boys fourth at Viroqua

VIROQUA — The Central High School girls cross country team ran to a second-place finish at the Viroqua Invitational at the Vernon County Fairgrounds on Wednesday.

The RiverHawks had a team score of 67 that was only beaten by Viroqua (40) in a 10-team competition. Logan’s boys placed fourth with a score of 110. Central’s boys were sixth (110) and Logan’s girls ninth (171).

Sophomore Charlotte Yard placed third individually for Central with a time of 20 minutes, 55.4 seconds. Sophomore Kaylyn Torkleson was ninth (21:36), junior Brynn Bosshard 22nd (22:48.7), junior Mae Medinger 24th (23:01.1) and freshman Clara Jantz 26th (23:04.2) for the RiverHawks.

The Logan boys were led by junior Gabe Passe, who was seventh in 17:34, and junior Quinn Passe, who was 19th at 18:31.8. Junior Tate Kujak (23rd, 18:50.8), junior Isaac Gabriel (27th, 19:02.6) and junior Gabe Driscoll (37th, 19:32.6) also had scoring runs for the Rangers.

The RiverHawks were led by 16th-place junior Jacob Fresia (18:12) in the boys race. Senior Lyndon Torkleson (28th, 19:04), sophomore Wesley Olson (33rd, 19:26.4), senior Sean Erickson (38th, 19:33.7) and sophomore Therron Hamilton (47th, 19:58.8) also scored for Central.

Logan’s girls were led by junior Kareena Ramakrishnan’ seventh-place performance (21:26.7). Freshman Elin Miles (27th, 23:08.5), junior Natalie Pedretti (48th, 25:49.6), junior Marlee Stevemer (62nd, 27:13.3) and sophomore Rachel Sward (69th, 27:50.1) also scored for the Rangers.
