Tuesday baseball report: La Crosse Logan shuts out Arcadia in one-hitter

LA CROSSE — The Logan High School baseball team posted its second shutout in three games with an 8-0 nonconference victory over visiting Arcadia on Tuesday.

The Rangers (10-8) won for the third time in four games and pulled away with four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Logan had 13 hits — all singles — and Logan Hanson allowed one hit and struck out seven over five-plus innings to key the shutout.

Shortstop/pitcher Bradley Check, who was 3 for 3, also retired all four batters he faced for his contribution to the one-hitter.

Catcher Tommy Check was 3 for 4 and third baseman Jackson Bosch 2 for 3. Bosch and Bradley Check each scored twice, and seven Rangers drove in one run apiece.

Caledonia 13, La Crescent-Hokah 6

LA CRESCENT — The Warriors (12-5) won their second straight game and for the sixth time in seven games by scoring seven runs in the top of the first inning.

Caledonia had 16 hits and received at least one from every spot in the batting order.

Third baseman Tyson Ginther was 3 for 5 with a double and four runs driven in for Caledonia, which had six stolen bases and received a double and two RBIs each from Tanner Ginther and Jack Schmitz while beating its rival.

Osseo-Fairchild 11, Melrose-Mindoro 4

MELROSE — The Mustangs (13-4, 9-2) slipped into a tie for first place in the Large Division of the Dairyland Conference after allowing six runs over the last two innings.

Third baseman Eric Herzberg was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, but Melrose-Mindoro made four errors, and its pitchers walked seven batters.

First baseman Brady Blaken was also 2 for 4, and Isaiah Kleinsmith and Brewer Schlifer both doubled.

De Soto 8, Onalaska Luther 4

ONALASKA — The Knights (3-12-1) couldn’t come back after allowing the Pirates to score six times in the top of the first inning.

Third baseman Logan Pierce tripled and drove in two runs, and pitcher/catcher Sam Lipps doubled and drove in one for Luther.
