Saturday baseball report: Winning streak reaches 10 games for La Crosse Aquinas

LA CROSSE — The Aquinas High School baseball team has won 10 games in a row.

The Blugolds (13-2), who are ranked third in Division 2 by state coaches, overwhelmed Prairie du Chien behind the four-hit pitching of Aedan David on the way to a 6-0 nonconference victory at Lee Gilbert Field.

Sophomore shortstop Jonny Deets was 2 for 2 with a home run to go with three RBIs and a walk from the top of the Aquinas lineup, and David allowed four singles while striking out five and walking one.

Deets led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run to left field and singled home. Center fielder Cullen Sackman and catcher Jacob Thornton also drove in a run each for Aquinas.

The Blackhawks loaded the bases but didn’t score in the fifth and put two aboard with one out in the seventh but didn’t score.

Logan 10, Ashland 6
Logan 6, Prescott 0

PRESCOTT — The Rangers (9-7) snapped a three-game losing streak by scoring 16 runs in a triangular hosted by Prescott.

Logan had 11 hits and scored eight runs in the first two innings to set the tone against Ashland.

Senior shortstop Bradley Check was 3 for 3 with two stolen bases, a double and four RBIs, and pitcher/center fielder Preston Elston was 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs. Tommy Check and Jackson Bosch both had two singles, and Check scored three runs.

Hank Bosch shut down Prescott on four hits. He didn’t strike out or walk a batter.

Bradley Check singled and drove in two runs for the Rangers, who had six hits. Elston also drove in a run.

Holmen 15, Superior 5 (5)
D.C. Everest 13, Holmen 4

SCHOFIELD — The Vikings (12-5-1) split two games in a triangular hosted by D.C. Everest.

Designated hitter Abe Henderson was 3 for 4 with three singles, three runs scored and four RBIs. He also had three of Holmen’s 13 stolen bases.

Center fielder Tyler Rosenow swiped four bases after walking twice and scored three runs, and catcher Braeden Linse singled and drove in three as the Vikings recorded nine hits against the Spartans.

The Evergreens scored seven first-inning runs to take control of Holmen in the second game. The Vikings had scored three in the top of the first before D.C. Everest answered immediately.

Henderson and Linse were both 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and right fielder Joe Meeter was 2 for 3 and scored twice.
