Saturday lacrosse report: Lightning close out split with win over Brookfield

WISCONSIN DELLS — The Central co-op boys lacrosse team split two games in the Verona Invitational held at the Woodside Athletic Complex on Saturday.

The Lightning, who have players from Central, Logan, Aquinas, Onalaska, Luther, Holmen and West Salem, started with a 9-7 loss to Oregon before closing with a 12-4 win over Brookfield.

La Crosse scored three times in the first quarter and four times in the second to take control against Brookfield.

Onalaska’s Shawn McKane scored four goals and added an assist in the successful performance.
Luther’s Jax Hendrickson added three goals and one assist, and Central’s Grayson Veum had two goals and two assists. Central’s Charlie Seehafer finished with two goals and one assist as the Lightning improved their record to 3-4.

La Crosse faced a 5-4 halftime deficit against Oregon, and the Panthers opened up the advantage by scoring four times in the third.

Veum scored four goals and registered two assists in this game. Seehafer had two goals and one assist and Hendrickson one goal for the Lightning, who next play two games in an invitational hosted by Elkhorn on May 10. La Crosse will play Elkhorn at noon and Kenosha at 2:30 p.m.
