Thursday girls soccer report: Central, Aquinas keep unbeaten starts alive

LA CROSSE — The Central High School girls soccer team won its second straight game and emerged victorious over Logan/Luther by not allowing a shot on goal at Swanson Field on Thursday.

The RiverHawks scored twice in each half to score a 4-0 victory over the Rangers in their MVC opener.

Grace Wilkerson had one goal and two assists, and Avery Bosshard had one goal and one assist for Central (2-0, 1-0), which has outscored its first two opponents by a combined 8-0.

Bosshard scored on a goal assisted by Ellia Dale in the 21st minute before assisting on Wilkerson’s goal 11 minutes later. Mae Yang scored with an assist from Wilkerson in the 42nd minutes before Wilkerson scored unassisted in the 67th minute to complete the victory.

Laura Lapp and Maya Rizwan both played in goal for the RiverHawks, but neither had to stop a shot. Alexia Vang had eight saves in goal for Logan/Luther (1-2, 0-1).

Aquinas 2, Eau Claire Regis/Chippewa Falls McDonell 1

LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (3-0) put nine of 26 shots on goal to apply consistent pressure on the Ramblers’ defense on the way to their second victory this week and first at Fields for Kids.

Alexa Myre scored both goals for Aquinas, which hosts Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld on Friday. Morghan Gerling and Hayden Zehren each recorded an assist for Aquinas, which limited Regis/McDonell to three shots on goal.
