WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Holmen High School senior Katie Lange turned in a fifth-place performance on the floor exercise to highlight local competitors at the WIAA state gymnastics meet on Saturday.
Lange, a powerhouse during her career in the MVC, received a score of 9.217 on the beam for the fifth-best score in Division 1 on the second day of the meet. Team competition was conducted Friday, and individual competition followed on Saturday. in a meet hosted by Wisconsin Rapids.
Lange was an all-around qualifier, and the floor was her standout event. She was also 12th on the uneven bars (8.817) and 12th in her division with an all-around score of 35.583.
Logan/Central sophomore Danika Parnell qualified in Division 1 vault and produced a score of 8.833 for 17th place.
Junior Hayden Rohde and senior Kennedy Garbers both qualified in the Division 1 uneven bars for the West Salem co-op. Rohde was 21st (8.367) and Garbers 23rd (8.15).
Onalaska/Luther senior Eva Dryer was also a qualifier in Division 2.
She finished 15th overall in the all-around with a score of 34.867. She was 11th on the floor exercise (9.233), 17th on the vault (8.85), 18th on the balance beam (8.5) and 22nd on the uneven bars (8.283).
