ROCHESTER — The top-seeded Caledonia High School boys basketball team advanced to the semifinal round of the MSHSL Section 1AA tournament on Monday with a 89-47 quarterfinal victory over La Crescent-Hokah at the Rochester Mayo Civic Arena.
The Warriors (26-2) beat the Lancers (13-15) for a third time this season and earned the right to play fifth-seeded Zumbrota-Mazeppa (18-10) on Saturday at the Mayo Civic Auditorium. That game tips off at 4 p.m.
Caledonia, which has averaged 87.1 points over its past eight games, took a big lead with a 55-point first half and won for the 15th time in a row.
Senior Garrett Konz scored a team-high 23 points and had 12 as the Warriors took their 55-29 halftime lead. Senior Mason King added 20 points, and 19 of those came in the first half. Caledonia, which had its postseason run ended in the semifinal round a year ago, also received 13 points from freshman Grant King.
