LA CROSSE — Skiing for the Northern La Crosse co-op, Alyssa Raven won the Super G championship at the WIARA ski and snowboard state meet at Mt. La Crosse on Monday.
Raven was timed at 36.84 seconds, and that gave her a comfortable margin of victory over runner-up Ellie Hirn (37.47) of Lake Geneva Badger. The Northern La Crosse co-op also placed third in the event and fifth overall in the girls combined scoring.
The Aquinas/Onalaska/West Salem boys ski team was also first among Division 2 teams, while the Logan/Central/Providence co-op was second. A/O/WS had a team score of 394, and the Logan co-op 567.
The A/O/WS girls ski team was third in Division 2 with a score of 656.
Raven was second to Hirn in the combined individual standings. Hirn had times of 34.65 in the Giant Slalom and 46.21 in the Slalom on Sunday and finished with five total points. Raven’s Sunday times were 35.11 in the Giant Slalom and 49.14 in the Slalom, and she finished with 10 points.
Julia McBride, Raven’s teammate, was 20th in the Super G (38.87) and 15th in the combined standings.
Kendall Carlson was 27th (39.29) and Brynn Grabowski 38th (39.76) in the Super G for A/O/WS. Ella Tepp added a 64th-place finish and time of 41.31 for A/O/WS.
Grabowski was 24th and Elise Myre 61st in combined standings for A/O/WS.
The Logan/Central/Providence co-op was led by Elizabeth Tucker (95th, 42.86) and Wynne Roberts (113th, 45.21) in the Super G. Tucker was 77th in the combined standings.
The A/O/WS boys team had two of the top 10 finishers in the Super G and three of the top 13 in the Giant Slalom.
Patrick Gundersen was eighth in the Super G (34.18) and 13th in the Giant Slalom with respective times of 34.18 and 28.29. Teammate Cullen Sackman was 10th in the Super G (34.35) and 11th in the Giant Slalom (28.23), and Jonathan Gehrke was 12th in the Giant Slalom (28.25).
Benedict Althoff also had a top individual finish for Logan/Central/Providence with his seventh place in the Giant Slalom (27.93). Althoff was also 19th in the Super G (34.86).
Althoff was seventh in the combined standings, Sackman ninth and Gehrke 10th.
Logan/Central/Providence’s Zach Adams was 15th combined with his best showing a 12th place in the Super G (34.4).
