HOLMEN — The Holmen High School girls basketball team used a strong second half to pull out a 64-59 nonconference victory over Onalaska Luther at the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse on Monday.
Junior Macy Kline made all three of her 3-point attempts and scored a game-high 23 points for the Vikings (11-11), who play at New Richmond on Tuesday and host Tomah on Thursday to conclude the regular season. Kline, who also had seven rebounds and five steals, made 8 of 12 shots and has averaged 20.3 points over her last three games.
Junior Charley Casey added 15 points and a team-high 12 rebounds for Holmen, which outscored the Knights (17-5), who had won three straight games.
The Vikings gave themselves some breathing room and 56-47 lead after Danika Rebhahn, Kine and Imano Toso made consecutive 3-pointers before Luther stormed back to within 56-54. Holmen made free throws from there to get the win.
Freshman Makenzie Nunemacher made two 3s and scored 10 points for Holmen. She also grabbed eight rebounds.
Senior Allie Zittel made 5 of 8 3-point attempts and scored 20 points for Luther, which made 12 3-pointers. Senior Macie Neumeister also made five 3s and scored 18 points to go with a team-high six rebounds.
Freshman Cara Unke had seven points and five rebounds for the Knights.
Logan 35, Winona 32
WINONA — The Rangers (5-18) snapped a four-game losing streak with a win over the Winhawks.
Junior Kenna Streeck made two free throws with 8 seconds left to give Logan the three-point lead it held on to for the victory. The Rangers, who made 4 of 6 free throws down the stretch, will try to close out the regular season with a winning streak when they host Richland Center (1-20) on Tuesday.
Sophomore Lilly Dettwiler scored a team-high 10 points, and junior Lydia Mason added nine. Junior Kaia DePaolo scored seven points for Logan.
