LA CROSSE — Alyssa Raven turned in a couple of big finishes during the second day of the WIARA ski and snowboard state championships at Mt. La Crosse on Sunday.
Raven, skiing for the Northern La Crosse co-op, finished third in the giant slalom and sixth in the slalom during a three-event day. Raven was timed at 35.11 seconds in the giant slalom and 49.14 in the slalom for her team, which placed fourth in the slalom and sixth in the giant slalom.
Teammate Julia McBride was 10th in the giant slalom (35.51) and 22nd in the slalom (52.2), Petra Sederstrom was 23rd (52.24) and Evelyn Bruns 25th (52.44) in the slalom for the co-op.
Brynn Grabowski led the Aquinas/Onalaska/West Salem team with a 29th-place finish in the slalom (53.76), and Elizabeth Tucker was 69th (59.14) to lead the Logan/Central/Providence.
Kendall Carlson was 20th (36.31) for A/O/WS in the giant slalom, and Grabowski followed in 21st place (36.49). Tucker’s 89th-place performance and time of 41.78 led Logan/Central/Providence.
The boys had their slalom race, and Logan/Central/Providence placed ninth and A/O/WS 1oth.
Benedict Althoff was the top local performer with his fifth-place run of 45 seconds. A/O/WS received 11th- and 12th-place finishes from Jonathan Gehrke and Cullen Sackman, respectively. Gehrke was timed at 45.62 and Sackman at 46.12.
Zach Adams added a 28th-place run (48.01) for Logan/Central/Providence.
