TOMAH — The Holmen High School girls basketball team used a strong close to the first half and open to the second for a 54-30 MVC victory at Tomah on Monday.
The victory, which is the team’s second in a row, moves the third-place Vikings (9-10, 6-3) within one game of second-place La Crosse Central (15-5, 7-2).
Holmen scored the final 11 points of the first half for a 22-12 halftime lead, then scored 28 of the first 38 in the second half to pull away.
Senior Danika Rebhahn scored a team-high 11 points, and freshman Makenzie Nunemacher added 10. Junior Charley Casey had eight points and eight rebounds, and junior Macy Kline contributed seven points, six steals and five assists for the Vikings, who host Sparta on Tuesday.

Aquinas 57, Luther 53
LA CROSSE — Sophomore Calvin Bahr had his game clicking with 15 points and 10 rebounds to help the Blugolds (18-2) past the Knights (14-5) at the Reinhart Athletic Complex for their third win in a row.
Luther had a seven-game winning streak snapped after Bahr’s double-double led three double-figure scorers for Aquinas.
Bahr made 4 of 5 shots — he hit 1 of 2 3-point attempts — and 6 of 9 free throws to go with three offensive rebounds, seven defensive boards and three assists in a game the Blugolds led 38-29 at the half.
Junior Logan Becker added 14 points and senior Trey Bahr 12 for Aquinas. Becker knocked down three of the team’s seven 3-pointers.
Senior Synclair Byus made 4 of 6 attempts from the 3-point line and scored a game-high 25 points for Luther. He also had six assists and four rebounds to go with four steals.
Senior teammates Jackson Kendall and Will Huelskamp each scored 11, and Huelskamp added eight rebounds and three steals. Kendall had five steals and three assists.
