HOLMEN — The Holmen High School boys wrestling team won the final six matches to pull away from a close dual with G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro and claim a 56-20 nonconference victory at the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
The Titans, ranked ninth in Division 2 by Wisconsin Grappler, fell behind early but were with 22-20 when juniors Koda Purney and Colton Koss won by major decision and pin at 113 and 120 pounds, respectively, in a dual that began at 165. The Vikings, ranked third in Division 1, won every match after that.
Abraham Henderson pinned Braden Peterson at 1 minute, 54 seconds, Conner Degner majored Cale Pickering at 215, Turner Campbell won by technical fall over Brody Banse at 132, Camden Thiele pinned Layne Fry in 1:32 at 144, and AJ Alesch pinned Jayce Stetzer in 1:28 at 150 in big matchups for Holmen.
A potential faceoff between G-E-T/Mel.-Min.’s Colton Koss and Nathan Henderson at 120 didn’t materialize as Henderson bumped up to 126. Both won their matches by pin.
