VIROQUA — The Arcadia High School boys basketball team was dead in the water, but senior Kaiden Rotering wasn’t about to let the Raiders fade away during a Coulee Conference road game at Viroqua on Friday.
Rotering scored 31 points and helped Arcadia claw its way back from a 17-point deficit in the second half of a 75-72 double-overtime victory over the Blackhawks.
Rotering scored eight points after the teams battled to a 60-60 tie in regulation, and he had six during his team’s 11-point second overtime. The win is the third in a row for the Raiders (8-7, 4-3), who had four players foul out and have received 50 points from Rotering over the past two games.
Sophomore Carter Wegman added 14 points and had four in the second overtime. Senior Nolan Smith scred eight of his 10 points in the first half.
Aquinas 78, Tomah 59
TOMAH — The Blugolds (14-1,4-1) forced their way into a share of first place with Holmen (11-3, 4-1) in the MVC with a win over the Timberwolves (5-8, 0-4) that sets up a battle for first place between Aquinas and the Vikings at the Reinhart Athletic Complex on Tuesday.
Sophomore Calvin Bahr poured in 30 points. He had 19 of those in the first half and is averaging 15.5 points over the Blugolds’ past six games. He made two 3-pointers.
Finley Strom and Brayden Young also made two 3s apiece. Strom finished with 12 points and Young 10. Trey Bahr added nine points and Logan Becker eight.
Sparta 73, Logan 51
SPARTA — The Rangers (5-9, 0-5) were outscored by 26 points after taking a 29-25 halftime lead.
Sophomore Bubba Leaver scored 14 points, and seniors Jacob Hackbarth and Max Lown added 13 apiece for Logan. Senior Bradley Check returned to the lineup from injury and scored seven.
Senior Owen Berendes scored 14 of his team-high 19 in the second half for Sparta.
