WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The West Salem co-op gymnastics team had two of the top five all-around performers on the way to a team score of 136.425 and victory in an eight-team invitational hosted by Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday.
The Panthers, who have competitors from West Salem, Aquinas and Bangor, beat second-place Wisconsin Rapids (135.875) and third-place Oshkosh West/Oshkosh North (132.825) for the championship.
Junior Camdyn Lyga was third all-around with a 34.8 that was only beaten by Wisconsin Rapids’ Elsa Urban (35.125) and Marshfield’s Alyvia Dietsche (34.9). Senior teammate Kennedy Garbers was fifth all-around (33.85).
Lyga highlighted her day with a second-place performance on the balance beam (9.2) and third-place showing in the floor exercise (9.25). Garbers was third on the balance beam (9.15) and fifth on the vault (87.75). Lyga also tied Garbers for fifth on the vault.
West Salem’s Olivia Maki was fourth on the balance beam. Hayden Rohde and Grace Olson tied for seventh place on the vault (8.7), and Olson was fifth (8.05) and Rohde sixth (8.025) on the bars.
