Friday girls basketball report: Onalaska beat Arcadia from perimeter; Davis sparks big Aquinas win

ONALASKA — The Onalaska High School girls basketball team used six 3-pointers and scoring from seven players to knock off Arcadia 45-40 in a nonconference game at John Shelton Court on Friday.

The Hilltoppers (3-5) took advantage of two 3-pointers each from sophomore Lauren Pica and senior Jenna Gansen to hand the Raiders (6-5) the loss. Gansen finished with a team-high 11 points, while Pica added nine and freshman Kayla Ketelhut eight.

Onalaska led 19-18 at the half and made three 3-pointers in each half.

Sophomore Tatum Drazkowski scored a game-high 21 points for Arcadia. She made two 3-pointers and scored 12 points in the second half. Junior teammate Joselyn Lockington added eight.

Aquinas 69, Chippewa Falls McDonell 32

The Blugolds (8-3) are riding a seven-game winning streak after junior Sammy Davis registered 26 points, eight rebounds and seven steals in a win over the Macks at the Reinhart Athletic Complex.

Davis scored 16 points and knocked down a 3-pointer in the first half to help Aquinas to a 42-8 lead over McDonell (6-5). She made 9 of 20 shots and 5 of 11 attempts from the foul line.

Junior Alaina Elias added 11 points and sophomore Eva Willenbring 10 for the Blugolds, who had 23 steals. Elias added five and senior Kathryn Savoldelli and sophomore Ava Fernholz four each.

Wausau West 51, Holmen 46

WAUSAU — The Vikings (3-6) led 31-25 at halftime and maintained an advantage until West too the lead with 3 minutes to go on the way to a home victory.

Holmen junior Charley Casey scored 11 points in the first half but just two more in the second. She had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Vikings, who also received three 3-pointers and nine points from Imani Toso.

Senior Danika Rebhahn and freshman Makenzie Nunemacher added eight points apiece for Holmen, which played without junior Macy Kline for a second straight game.
