Saturday girls basketball report: Caledonia gets back on winning path at West Salem

WEST SALEM — The Caledonia High School girls basketball team put behind it a two-game losing streak with 55-51 nonconference victory over West Salem on Saturday.

The Warriors (9-2), who lost consecutive games to Waverly-Shell Rock and Aquinas after winning their first eight, got back on track by avenging a loss at West Salem from last season and dropped the Panthers to 8-2.

Senior and Upper Iowa commit Josie Foster scored 17 points for Caledonia, which faced a 29-24 halftime deficit. Her 17 led three double-figure scorers for the Warriors. Aubrie Klug added 14 and Nicole Banse 11.

West Salem was led by 15-point performances by Sydney Quick and and Megan Johnson. Quick scored 10 points in the first half and Johnson nine in the second half. Josie Brudos added 10 points for the Panthers.

Holmen 58, Chippewa Falls 34

CHIPPEWA FALLS — The Vikings (3-5) won their second straight game behind four 3-pointers and a team-high 19 points from senior Danika Rebhahn.

Freshman Makenzie Nunemacher added 11 points, and junior Charley Casey five points and 10 rebounds after sitting the final eight minutes of the first half.

Holmen had four freshmen combine for 29 points.

Central 53, Reedsburg 40

The RiverHawks (6-3) won for the third time in a row, and sophomore Ellie Gillitzer made 8 of 12 3-point attempts on her way to a game-high 32 points at Logan’s Steve Hole Field House.

Junior Alahnna Simpson had 14 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists for Central, which plays at Marshfield on Friday.

Bangor 64, Stratford 40

BANGOR — The Cardinals (9-2) ran their win streak to five games by taking care of the Tigers.
Eight players scored for Bangor, and four of them reached double figures.

Senior Anna Fronk led the way with three 3-pointers and 16 points. Kennedy Hamilton also made three 3s and finished with 13 points.

Aubrey Langrehr added 11 points and Kiera Cavadini 10 for Bangor.
