Friday hockey report: Unbeaten streak for Tomah/Sparta ended by McFarland

BARABOO — The Tomah/Sparta co-op boys hockey team had a seven-game unbeaten streak snapped on Friday with a 5-1 loss to Baldwin-Woodville at the Poppy Waterman Ice Arena in Baraboo.

Tomah/Sparta (7-2-1) opened the Reedsburg Tournament with a 5-1 win over Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday but allowed Baldwin-Woodville to score three goals in the second period. Tomah/Sparta’s goal came unassisted from senior forward Parker Holloway and gave it a 1-0 lead 8 minutes, 14 seconds into the game.

Holloway’s goal was his 16th of the season.

Hayward 6, La Crescent-Hokah 4

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Lancers (3-5) outshot the Hurricanes 35-15 but let a three-goal lead slip away at Graham Arena.

Hayward scored four goals in the third period after facing a 4-2 deficit after two to win.

Stepan Vent, Ben Schoepel, Archer Semling and Cooper Hill scored once each for La Crescent-Hokah, which was up 4-2 when Schoepel scored unassisted at 14:13 in the second period.
