ONALASKA — The Onalaska Luther High School girls basketball team gave up a big lead in the first half but dominated the second to beat Sparta 64-37 in a nonconference game on Friday.
The Knights (5-1) won their fifth straight game by outscoring the Spartans (2-4) by 21 points in the second half and pulling away from a six-point lead.
Senior Macie Neumeister made four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 16 points for Luther. She also had seven steals and five assists.
Freshman Jaeyda Livingston added three 3-pointers and 14 points for the Knights, who also received good interior defense from freshman Brinley Schmitz.
Sparta was led by junior Lily Seifert’s 15 points.
Caledonia 77, Fillmore Central 24
CALEDONIA — The Warriors (6-0) had a 42-point lead by halftime in a one-sided win over the Falcons.
Junior Kensey King scored a game-high 22 points for Caledonia, which made 14 of 17 free throws and had 56 points in the first half. Nicole Banse added two 3-pointers and 18 points for the Warriors, and Josie Foster scored 11.
West Salem 66, Arcadia 35
ARCADIA — The Panthers (8-1, 3-0) moved into a tie with Onalaska Luther for the Coulee Conference lead by taking care of the Raiders (4-3, 2-2).
Junior Josie Brudos made three 3-pointers and all four of her attempted free throws to score a career-high 23 points in West Salem’s fifth straight victory. Senior teammate Megan Johnson scored eight points in each half for 16 in a game the Panthers led 34-13 at halftime.
Johnson also ran her career point total to 1,512 to pass Baily Williams’ previous record and become West Salem basketball’s all-time leading scorer.
Sophomore Tatum Drazkowski scored a team-high 11 for Arcadia but was held to four as the first-half lead was built.
Onalaska 47, Chippewa Falls McDonell 42
ONALASKA — The Hilltoppers (1-3) picked up their first victory of the season and opened up a nine-point lead after one half.
Freshman Kayla Ketelhut scored 14 points for Onalaska, which won despite making only six field goals inside the 3-point line. Sophomore Lauren Pica made all six of her free throws and added 12 points for the Hilltoppers, who host Caledonia on Tuesday.
Viroqua 56, Westby 43
VIROQUA — The Blackhawks (3-3, 2-2) won their second game in a row and were led by freshman Allyah Schwem’s game-high 25 points. Schwem is averaging 22.8 points per game and has scored at least 25 points four times. Sophomore Sytara Gald added 12 for Viroqua.
The Norsemen (1-4, 0-3) were led by junior Katelyn Benish’s 12 points.
Black River Falls 62, G-E-T 33
BLACK RIVER FALLS — The Tigers (3-4, 2-2) shut the Red Hawks (0-7, 0-3) on 18 possessions in the first half and 27 possessions in the second half to snap a two-game losing streak.
Senior Bella Falcon scored a team-high 23 points, and senior Kenley Brown had 11 for Black River Falls, while sophomore Ava Lightfoot scored 12 to lead G-E-T.
