ONALASKA — The Aquinas/Holmen co-op boys hockey team allowed two goals in the third period but came back with a goal from Ayden Dirks to beat the West Salem co-op 4-3 in overtime at the OmniCenter on Thursday.
Dirks scored with assists from Brant Hundt and Casey Keane at the 7-minute, 34-second mark for the Avalanche (2-2) as they snapped a two-game losing streak.
Dirks’ goal became necessary when Aiden Hillyer and Terryn Boland scored goals for the Panthers (2-3) in the third. Hillyer was assisted by Boland at 2:44, and Boland by Coen Knutson and Tyler Meyer at 14:31.
Brody Slusser, with an assist from Hundt each time, scored two goals for the Avalanche. Teammate Mikah Vail also scored — Jaxson Reilley and Jax Hendrickson assisted — also scored for the Avalanche.
West Salem’s first goal came from Kayden Tauscher.
Tomah/Sparta 8, Viroqua co-op 4
TOMAH — Tomah/Sparta (5-1) scored four goals in the third period to pull away at the Tomah Ice Arena.
Andrew Carney had two goals and two assists for Tomah/Sparta, which also received one goal and three assists apiece from Parker Holloway and Mason Amberg. Brennan Otten and Ben Carney each had one goal and one assist in the winning performance.
The Blackhawks (1-3) received two goals from Collin Simonson and two assists from Connor Williams.
Winona 7, Black River Falls 1
WINONA — The Tigers (3-3) were outshot 25-15 and scored their lone goal in the first period after the Winhawks scored twice.
Senior Drew Apicella scored for Black River Falls and was assisted by Henry Meek and Calvin Lakowske.

WEST SALEM — The Cyclones (1-3-1) allowed two goals in the first period and another in the third at the Panther Den.
Black River Falls co-op 4, Chippewa Falls/McDonell 3 (2 OT)
CHIPPEWA FALLS — The Tigers won despite being outshot 37-27. Camryn Steele snapped the 3-3 tie with a goal at the even strength at the 7:34 mark of the second overtime.
Ally Ritter scored unassisted at 12:05 of the third after Chippewa Falls/McDonell had scored two straight time to tie the game. Steele’s goal was her second of the night. Kaia Moore then gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead when she scored with assist from Ritter early in the second period.
