Gymnastics, boys swimming report: West Salem co-op wins triangular; O/H/A victorious

WEST SALEM — The West Salem co-op gymnastics team started its season with a score of 132.2 and victory in a triangular meet it hosted on Thursday.

The Panthers finished ahead of second-place Holmen (131.15) and Wisconsin Rapids (126.925).
Holmen’s Nadia Trapnell was the all-around champion with a score of 33.85, and that was enough to hold off second-place Kennedy Garbers of West Salem and third-place Katie Lange of Holmen (32.9).

Trapnell won the balance beam (9.15) and was second on the bars (8.15) to anchor her all-around victory. Garbers was second on the balance beam (8.8).

Lange won the vault (8.775) over West Salem’s Grace Olson (8.55), and West Salem’s Camdyn Lyga the floor exercise (9.3) over Holmen’s Mina Hawkins (8.9).

BOYS SWIMMING

Onalaska/Holmen/Aquinas 83, Logan/Central/West Salem 64

Holmen sophomore Seth Rusell took home victories in all four events he entered.

Russell won the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.82) and 500 freestyle (5:43.57) in addition to participating for the victorious 200 medley relay (1:59.97) and 400 freestyle relay (4:00.09).

Holmen sophomore teammate Deacon Durnil, also a sophomore, matched Russell by swimming with both relays and winning the 100 butterfly (1:03) and 100 backstroke (1:05).

Logan senior Danny Lenz and Holmen juniors Daniel Ott and Warrick Ranis won three events in relay and individual events.

Lenz swam with the Gabe Driscoll, James Richardson and Noah Stewart to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:49) and picked up individual wins in the 50 freestyle (25.33) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.44).

Ott and Ranis competed with both relays, and Ott won the 200 individual medley (2:32.89), while Ranis won the 100 freestyle (59.24).
