ARCADIA — The Onalaska Luther High School girls basketball team recorded 19 steals and took advantage of Arcadia’s Tatum Drazkowski having to leave the game early to record a 55-45 Coulee Conference victory at the Wanek Center on Tuesday.
The Knights (4-1, 3-0) took over first place in the conference by becoming the first Coulee team to beat the Raiders (4-2, 2-1).
Senior Allie Zittel made a pair of 3-pointers and scored a team-high 19 points for Luther, which also received 16 points and five steals from freshman Cara Unke. Zittel and Unke combined to make 15 of 22 shots.
Drazkowski had eight points and Justine Sonsalla seven for Arcadia.
The Knights, who shot 52.6 percent from the floor and won four straight games, host Sparta on Friday.
West Salem 64, Black River Falls 25
BLACK RIVER FALLS — The second-place Panthers (7-1, 2-0) won their fourth straight game and had a 41-13 halftime lead.
Ten players scored for West Salem, which plays at Arcadia on Thursday.
Junior Josie Brudos scored a team-high 17 points for the Panthers, who also received a 13-point performance from senior Sammi Niemeier. Makena Ihle scored eight points, and MacLaine Heilman knocked down two 3-pointers for six.
The Tigers (2-4, 1-2) were led by senior Hannah Falcon’s six points.
Viroqua 59, G-E-T 48
GALESVILLE — The Blackhawks (2-3, 1-2) received another huge game from freshman Allyah Schwem to beat the Red Hawks (0-6, 0-2).
Schwem pushed her per-game scoring average to 22.4 by scoring 26 points against G-E-T. Teammates Sam Schneider and Emily Huatch also scored 13 and eight, respectively, for Viroqua.
Amara Brantner scored 14 points and Joshlyn Lunsford and Sami Filla nine each for G-E-T.
Stevens Point 52, Holmen 42
HOLMEN — The Vikings (1-3) used an 11-4 run at the end of the first half to get within 29-25 and were within 41-37 with 5 minutes left before the Panthers (3-2) pulled away.
Holmen cut a double-figure deficit in the first half with the help of two straight Charley Casey baskets and consecutive 3-pointers from Makenzie Nunemacher and Danika Rebhahn during the 11-4 first-half run.
Casey finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots, while Macy Kline added nine points and Rebhahn and Nunemacher scored eight apiece.
The Vikings will take aim at stopping a 102-game MVC winning streak by Aquinas — it will try to push that streak to 103 against Logan on Thursday — when they travel to the Reinhart Athletic Complex to open the conference season on Saturday.
Platteville 62, Logan 30
PLATTEVILLE — The Rangers (1-4) have lost four games to teams with a combined 22-4 record after falling to the unbeaten Hillmen.
Sophomore Lilly Dettwiler made two 3-pointers and scored nine points for Logan, which has lost two straight games since a victory over G-E-T and hosts Aquinas on Thursday.
Caledonia 73, La Crescent-Hokah 5
LA CRESCENT — The Warriors (4-0, 3-0) had three players in double figures, and Aubrie Klug’s 27 points led all scorers.
Nicole Banse added 17 and Josie Foster 15 for Caledonia, which plays at Waukon (Iowa) on Thursday and has beaten its last two opponents by a total of 98 points.
