Saturday hockey, swimming report: Black River Falls girls salvage tie with 2-goal third period

MEQUON — The Black River Falls co-op girls hockey team scored two goals in the third period to salvage a 2-2 tie with Cedarburg at the Ozaukee Ice Center in Mequon on Saturday.

The Tigers (2-3-2) allowed two goals in the second period before climbing back into the game.
Sophomore Allie Ritter struck first with an assist from freshman Kaia Moore at 7:45 of the third.

Moore then scored at 12:36 with an assist from sophomore Camryn Steele. Ritter scored her first goal of the season, and Moore had her third goal and first assist.

Steele’s assist was her third.

Chippewa Falls Invitational

CHIPPEWA FALLS — The Logan/Central/West Salem team placed fifth out of eight teams with 223 points and had five top-three event finishes.

Senior Nathan Ivens was part of four of those performances and placed second twice as an individual. Ivens was runner-up in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minute, 11.14 seconds) and 100 butterfly (1:02.46).

Ivens was also part of the third-place 200 medley relay (1:54.03) with Danny Lenz, Brett Jeffries and Noah Stewart and the third-place 400 pineapple relay (3:34.06) with Stewart, Jeffries, James Richardson, Willem Van Wyk, Parker Wolff, Gabe Driscoll and Lenz.

Lenz gave the team an event victory when he swam the fastest time of 1:10.28 in the 100 breaststroke.

Onalaska/Holmen/Aquinas tied Logan/Central/West Salem with 223 points.
